Boo @ the Zoo

Well, the weather cooperated on Halloween and we took "the boys", Isaak and Owen, to the fantasically crowded "Boo at the Zoo" event at Denver Zoo.

Owen dressed up like Yoda and Isaak was Superman. The two had fun, but really cared more about the animals than about the tirck-or-treat stations throughout the zoo. It pretty much ended up being me sticking out Owen's pumpkin while he checked out the kids and costumes. I felt a little sheepish, but at least they gave away some healthy snacks and great coupons.

Owen's favorite animal was the hippo. This is actually the first time that I've ever seen this animal out of the water....it was feeding time and Owen thought that was great. He continues to tell us about the hippo and shows us how it eats. Good stuff.

So, I was trying to get a picture of Owen looking at the monkeys, but I was having flash issues. I was finally able to take a somewhat in-focus picture...when I checked it, I realized that my son had been licking the glass. Yum. Swine Flu, anyone?

Watch out! There was a running Yoda on the loose....Owen took any opportunity to run around and away from Mommy and Daddy. I love his new independence....

The boys enjoyed crunching the snow.

I couldn't resist - there was a whole gang of Star Wars folks. They were more than willing to pose for pictures, but Owen was too freaked out by their costumes to allow them to hold him. Really, Obi Wan was a little too into it.

Trick-or-Treating.....well, kinda. Poor Donald Duck had to search for Owen's pumpkin just to give him a treat.

The tropical zone....Owen loved all of the "nakes" and "lizzyds". There were some creatures that he just wouldn't cozy up to the glass for, including the scary "allo" (aka: alligator).

After a long day of exploring and treat seeking, Master Yoda was ready for some down time. He spent the next few hours in deep meditation before we began the evening's festivities.

(Don't worry....I moved him after I took a few pictures. His little bum in the air just made me laugh).
