Owen Turns TWO

Well, Owen has already made his second year interesting. He's taken to "pouting" (see above and tell me you would not laugh) and he suddenly hates baths (he has always LOVED them and now he screams, "OUCHIE!! WHY, WHY?!?" as I'm forcing him in the water). He does some new cute things too...I taught him Eskimo and Butterfly kisses, so he added one of his own - ear kisses. It makes me laugh so hard when he turns my head and puts his ear up to mine. It's precious! I feel a tad guilty because I think his new found obsession with his ears is due to the fact that he's had two rounds of double ear infections this month. Hopefully some of his crankiness will go away when his ears are better.....Please tell me I'm right!
For his second birthday, we had family and friends join us at Owen's favorite park, Stapleton Central Park (a.k.a. The Dr. Seuss Park). Nana and Gramps drove out for the occasion, and Lori, Grammy, Lexi, and Chase jetsetted in for the day. Papa, Aunt Alicia, Uncle Matt, Cousin Isaak, Aunt Stacy, Uncle Brent, Cousin Maryn, and Cousin Elle joined us. And so did our friend Tom with his daughter Brooke.
We feel so lucky to have such support and to know such wonderful people.
The day starting out early and exciting. I was hoping that Owen would go down for a nap before the party....Gramps even drove him around in circles to try to get him to go to sleep, but we had no luck. Just in time for cake and presents, Owen decided to be grumpy and demanding. Since it was his birthday, I gave in.

He was OCD about carrying around ALL of the balloons...

He used the cake's topping (Lightning McQueen - he picked it out) as a spoon/shovel for gobs of red frosting...

He insisted that we open up some of the cool airplanes and cars that he got as gifts... (at least all of the ones that I didn't hide from him).
And then, after he ran around, he threw a fit for a drink and then passed out on Nana.
When we got home, he was thrilled that all of the toys came with him. Owen spent the entire evening in complete car and airplane bliss.

I can't believe that my little boy is already 2 years old. Everyone always says that "they grow up so fast" and they really do. I've loved every minute of his little life - even when I'm up at 4:00 in the morning with him crying and even when he throws cars at my face. After all, it's the job of a mother to handle the tough times so that you earn your ear kisses.

oh man! I can't believe he's two. I love the ear kisses. What a cute thing to do. It made me laugh seeing him carry around all the balloons. I totally know how that is. He's so cute Mandy!

I'm so sad we missed the party. I love little Owen he is such a precious little guy. They do grow up too fast we need to figure a way to slow it down. We love you and miss you.

Oh, he is so adorable, Mandy! What a sweet post! I had to laugh (and stress) with you over the whole nap situation on his big day. It stinks that their good (and bad) behavior is so contingent on a silly nap! Parker turns into a monster if he's not well rested. But I'm glad it all seemed to still work out well and he sure looks adorable sleeping on his Grandma!
What a DARLING party! The theme and decorations are so so cute! I love the table cloth - very creative and what an awesome cake! Owen is lucky to have such a cute, fun Mom.
Happy Birthday Owen!
